The Feinberg Residence

Objectives:

Create a beautiful and luxurious home on a 40 by 130-foot lot that is wheelchair accessible and includes a handicapped suite on the basement floor. Open up the rear of the house for indoor-outdoor living, and provide privacy to the master bedroom terrace facing the property’s front. Build multiple suites to house visiting family members comfortably.

The Feinberg Home

Outcome:

The plush two-story home was faced with a stone veneer and features several stained-glass windows and limestone architectural details, including carved stone friezes on the front of the house. The ground floor rooms were designed to open up toward each other, with the living room/library boasting a fireplace, built-in bookshelves, and wood paneling. The kitchen and family room have French pocket doors and are located at the rear of the home.

The three-bedroom suites upstairs were given high, sloping ceilings to take advantage of the space under the roof. For privacy, the master bedroom terrace was enclosed by stone-faced walls with limestone caps, while the master bathroom was outfitted with electric glass windows that turn opaque via a flip of a switch. The basement contains two bedroom suites, including a handicap-accessible suite, as well as a media room, laundry facilities, and an outdoor stairway to the rear. A staircase and elevator connect all three levels.
