The Ellowitt Residence

Additions and Remodels

Objectives:

Bring back RLB’s Richard Blumenberg, the original architect, to remodel and update a two-story Mediterranean-style home to better accommodate the older homeowners. Make the second floor more easily accessible, and remodel the guest room, bathroom, and closet.

The Ellowitt Home

Outcome:

The home’s original features include high, wood beam ceilings, beautiful tile floors, wrought iron railings, and a cast stone door and window casings; a large courtyard, serving as both an entrance to the residence and a private yard area, surrounds the home.

A three-stop elevator was designed to provide easy access to the lower garage area, first floor, and second floor. The remodeled guest room features a raised cathedral ceiling, newly designed closets, and a bathroom with a walk-in shower.
