The Williams Residence

Smaller Homes

Objectives:

Expand the kitchen and breakfast areas within the existing footprint of the house. Remodel the master bath to take advantage of the view, and expand the hanging space in the master closet. Remodel additional areas throughout the home.

Outcome:

The existing breakfast room was expanded by removing an unused bar, closet, and forced-air closet and converted into the new kitchen, while the former kitchen became the new breakfast room. An island and furniture-quality cabinets that continued into the breakfast room were installed in the new, larger kitchen; a large, cased opening was designed to open the breakfast room into the dining room.

The master bath was redesigned and the tub positioned next to the large windows to capture the view; next to the tub was a large shower with wraparound glass. Two separate vanity cabinets were also created. The toilet was placed in a separate room with a window, and linen cabinets were installed in both the master bath and toilet room.

Two armoire closets with a dresser between were designed for the master bedroom, and the master closet was enlarged. Doors and windows were replaced throughout the house to bring in more natural light.
